What is a UK DBS Check & Why is it Needed?

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is a background check required in the UK for individuals working with children or vulnerable groups. A DBS check ensures that staff have no criminal record or history that would make them unsuitable for working with young people.

Enhanced DBS checks are required for House Matrons, Activities Leaders, and all key staff working directly with students.

The DBS check verifies that staff have no criminal convictions, cautions, or warnings that could pose a risk to children.

Why is it needed? To guarantee the safety and protection of all students by ensuring that only trusted, responsible, and fully vetted individuals are employed.
